If you’re looking for some quick advice about how to keep focused and productive, I’d say that it’s important for you to set up a regular routine that strikes a healthy balance between doing and being.
This is especially important for busy people with a lot of stress in their lives.
You probably know all this, so I’m just reminding you…..
Even though I know it, I don’t always stick to it and then things can slide for me….
It’s easy to get caught up in doing so much –
in your desire to help others, your family friends, clients etc.
in an on-going series of personal development and training courses.
in developing a growing business.
In my personal experience, unless I’m fully grounded and connected with my highest self through various practices like sound meditations, yoga, etc, the business behind those 3 activities: helping others, personal development and business growth can be driven by low self-esteem or low self-worth, and that can be quite harmful.
I’m not saying that this applies to you, as I don’t know enough about you….
But I know that the times when I’ve had low self-esteem, I’ve thrown myself into all those three activities in a rather desperate effort to cover up my feelings of inadequacies, to feel valued by others and to boost my confidence.
The problem is that by approaching my low-esteem in this way – effectively seeking something external from myself, I don’t resolve the core issue.
So I get caught up in an endless spiral of activity that can feel overwhelming.
Instead I need to find ways to centre and value myself the way I am now, and move into the world from that place.
That’s much more healthy for me and the people I touch.
So that why it’s important to give yourself the time and space regularly each day for simply being – being with your Self, not doing so much. Give your Self the space to breathe deeply and let the chi flow freely through your being. Gentle exercise, simple therapeutic sounds, meditation – these are all very helpful to me.
The paradox is that by ‘being’ more and ‘doing’ less, I can also be more productive and effective in what I do.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Please send me any thoughts or comments you may have.
Big love,
Tony
Thank-you for that profoundly helpful advice! I intend to use it and do less!
