The Colour of Sound Institute extends sound therapy training in 2012 with 2 weekend workshops in the UK for the Diploma Program.
By joining us on these workshops, you’ll build your experience and confidence with sound therapy so that you can quickly and easily create a richly rewarding career, doing work you love, helping others with healing sounds.
More than that, these workshops enable you to exploring working with sounds for your own personal development, self-transformation and inner growth.
This is what’s covered over the 2 weekends of this sound therapy training:
- How to work with GONGS & TUNING FORKS, in addition to your voice, singing bowls, bells, tingshas, grounding and rhythm tools, both 1-2-1 with clients and in groups
- How to integrate RECORDED MUSIC AND SOUNDS with your live sound therapy work
- How to generate first-class CLIENT CASE STUDIES
- The essentials of COACHING SKILLS to enable you to communicate effectively with your clients
- 2 MODELS OF SUCCESS, and the steps you need to take to develop a successful sound therapy practice
The workshops combine an interactive mixture of talks and demonstrations given by the tutor, Tony Nec, plus the opportunity to get hands-on practical experience working on your own and in small groups of 2 or 3 people.
Here’s a short video of the Certificate in Sound Therapy workshop held in June 2012:
By joining us on these weekend workshops you can retreat from daily life, and enter a sacred space. Each day of the workshop will include a guided sound meditation during which you can relax, let go and connect more deeply with your highest self.
The workshops also give you the opportunity to connect and share with other fellow students.
The workshops are designed to complement the on-line learning program of 12 Modules each including an eBook, workbook, video and / or audio. Alongside the material for these Modules, there is also a series of 12 tele-seminars, lasting about 1.5 hours each, with a talk and slides by Tony Nec.
This unique combination of workshops, on-line learning resources and tele-seminars is probably the most the complete sound therapy training package available in the UK, if not worldwide.
By joining our programs you get a qualification that enables you to work as a sound therapist with full professional indemnity insurance
Practical work
To get the Diploma in Sound Therapy you’ll need to carry out 60 sound therapy sessions with clients and to write them up as case histories. In doing this, you’ll build up both your experience in sound therapy practice and your client base – essential building blocks for your future success as a professional practitioner.
You’ll need to work with a minimum of 15 clients and carry out at least 3 therapy sessions with each of them. This would give you 45 completed sessions under your belt. To make up the remaining 15 sessions you can either give each of the 15 clients a fourth session or see an extra 15 people for a single session or any other combination.
You can do this practical work at any time before, in-between and after the Workshop training in sound therapy.
Assessment
In addition to assessing your 60 client case histories, you will also have to pass a written exam, based on the questions in the Workbooks for the Modules.
You will also have to pass an assessment of your skills in giving a harmonic sound treatment. This assessment takes places on the final day of the second weekend of the workshop training for the Diploma.
Assuming you pass the exam, you’ll be registered with the Colour of Sound Institute as a fully qualified practitioner and you’ll be awarded a Diploma in Sound Therapy. You’ll then be entitled to use the letters D.ST after your name.
Here’s what your Diploma certificate will look like….
You’ll be able to proudly display it on your wall….

Our workshop training has been accredited by the British Complimentary Medical Association (BCMA). The Colour of Sound Institute is an Independent School within the BCMA structure.
The BCMA is the major Complementary Medicine (CM) multi-therapy umbrella body in the UK, representing some 45 single therapy organisations (some of which are in themselves umbrella bodies but for a single therapy) and some 18 independent schools. Through this structure it speaks for over 20,000 practitioners of 11 different therapies.
The BCMA operates a system of voluntary self-regulation with a Code of Conduct and a Complaint Investigation and Disciplinary Procedure (with lay involvement) which are mandatory for all members and their practitioners.
All applicants for membership undergo an investigation to ensure they have a satisfactory standard of education and training as part of their entry requirements. A minimum level of Medical Negligence and Public Liability insurance is also a requirement.
It is also moving towards a requirement for Continuing Professional Development for membership and maintains a Practitioner Register for referrals of suitably qualified practitioners to the public.
It is encouraging all its members i) to become involved in the development of National Occupational Standards through Healthcare UK and the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority as part of its commitment to ongoing standard-raising and ii) to seek Voluntary Statutory Self-Regulation as is available under the recent Health Act.
