For the third time in Ireland, the international Colour of Sound Institute is running a 4-day sound therapy workshop for therapists, health care professionals, healers, musicians, singers and anyone who is keen to explore the power of sounds for healing, mindfulness and transformation.

On this workshop you’ll learn to work with some simple instruments, such as tuning forks and singing bowls and our voices…

You don’t need to be a musician or singer to be effective with sound therapy, and you don’t need any prior experience of working with sounds or music or any other healing modality to join this workshop retreat.

• how to work with sound to activate our bodies’ natural healing abilities
• how to give sound therapy to your friends, family and clients

Each day will start with some gentle movement and a beautiful sound meditation to relax your nervous system and calm your mind….we’ll then give a short talk and series of demonstration about how to work with the sound therapy instrument of the day, and you’ll have plenty of time to practice the techniques on your own, 1-2-1 and in small groups.

Dates: 13,14, 15 & 16 September 2013

Times: 9.30 am – 5 pm, Friday, Saturday and Monday; 10.30 am – 6 pm, Sunday

Venue: Deer Park Hotel & Spa, Howth, Dublin, Ireland

We’ll focus on one sound therapy instrument per day, and you can join us for one or more days.   Each day is a stand-alone workshop, though you’ll have the deepest experience and learning by attending all 4 days. 

The workshop is non-residential though you can stay in this beautiful 3-star hotel at reasonable rates and take advantage of it’s excellent facilities, including spa, swimming pool and gym.

The Location

The Deer Park Hotel and Spa, is located in the grounds of Howth Castle on the peninsula of Howth at the north of Dublin bay, 9 miles from the city centre, and 20 minutes from Dublin airport. The hotel enjoys breathtaking views of Ireland’s Eye and Dublin Bay.

Access from Dublin City Centre is easy, via the DART, Dublin’s frequent rapid rail system. If you stay at the Hotel, you’ll have plenty of free time in the evenings to connect with other workshop participants and explore the stunning peninsula. A pleasant stroll will take you into the fishing village of Howth where you can enjoy some lovely walks and stop off at one of the many pubs or restaurants.

The Spa at Deer Park offers a wide range of relaxing treatments to suit everyone. WiFi is available in public areas and in the bedrooms.

The Deer Park Hotel is surrounded by stunning grounds and woodland and has panoramic views of the the coast, so you’ll be able to step outside into some beautiful green spaces during the breaks…

The workshop tutor is Tony Nec, the Principal of the Colour of Sound Institute. Tony has over 20 years experience as a therapist, coach and trainer in complementary medicine, and has studied with many renowned masters of sound. He experienced the transcendental power of chanting from Catholic and Buddhist monks while a teenager. He sings in choirs and is a keen voicescape leader.

Venue: The Assembly Rooms, High Street, Glastonbury, Somerset, UK

You can join this workshop either as a stand-alone experience or as part of the Certificate in Sound Therapy training program.

The Location

The special energy of Glastonbury has drawn pilgrims from all over the world for many years. People know it to be the heart chakra of our our planet…..

Depending on the weather, we’ll explore working with healing sounds outdoors in sacred sites on Glastonbury Tor and in Chalice Well Gardens….

We’ll also be holding a public performance of healing sounds on the Saturday night, and you’ll be able to buy sound healing instruments, books, CDs etc

You can join this workshop either as a stand-alone experience or as part of the Certificate in Sound Therapy training program. You can come for 1 – 4 days. There are many excellent places to stay in Glastonbury and there’s also a great campsite on the edge of town, within walking distance of the venue.

The outline program is:

Day 1: What is Sound Healing and how does it work? How to play Tibetan Singing Bowls and Chants

Day 2: How to play Crystal Singing Bowls and Gongs

Day 3: How to play Tuning Forks and work with Colour

Day 4: How to play Shamanic drums, rattles & shakers; Bringing It All Together – How to give a Sound Healing Session to your friends and family

Venue: Kevin Barry Room, National Concert Hall, Dublin, Ireland

The Location

The National Concert Hall, based in Dublin’s city centre, is rated by performing artists as one of the finest concert halls in Europe and boasts a thrilling line-up of some of the world’s greatest performers both nationally and internationally. With weekly performances by its resident orchestra as well as a range of performances covering classical, opera, traditional, jazz, musicals, popular music and education, the National Concert Hall is a thriving venue catering for all tastes.

The National Concert Hall was the venue for a talk by Deepak Chopra in 2010 on “Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul”.

Our workshop is taking place in the Kevin Barry room. This is one of the less well-known spaces in the National Concert Hall used for experimental performances, rehearsals, and workshops.

The National Concert Hall is adjacent to Iveagh Gardens and close to St Stephen’s Green, so you’ll be able to step outside into some beautiful green spaces during the breaks…
